Bamboo flooring is an excellent option if you’re interested in a renewable and eco-friendly floor that is also beautiful and durable.
Bamboo is a popular and alluring flooring option, perfect for updating your space. It’s distinct and makes any room look more contemporary. We offer bamboo in several different variations, including: natural horizontal, vertical, strand woven, and carbonized, bamboo flooring.
Bamboo floors are strong, durable, and naturally resistant to insects and moisture. In fact, the hardness of traditional bamboo flooring ranges from 1,180 (carbonized bamboo) to around 1,380 (natural bamboo) on the Janka scale. To give you some perspective, red oak (considered the industry standard for durability) has a Janka rating of 1,290. [link to red oak hardwood page]
Bamboo can be installed as a “floating floor” over an underlay, or fixed down to the subfloor with nails or glue. It can also be used with underfloor heating.
Bamboo is actually a type of grass, which is the secret behind its environmentally friendly nature. Not only does bamboo reach maturity in a quarter of the time of trees, even after being harvested it will continue to grow. It can be reharvested a few years later.
Bamboo and cork are two of the top flooring options for eco-friendliness.
Pandas are not the only ones who love bamboo! At Xpression Flooring we are huge fans of all the possibilities that exist with this flooring — but don’t worry if you’re not sure what kind of flooring to choose for your project. Our flooring experts are highly knowledgeable and always happy to answer your questions. We can also help with flooring installation.
