Benefits of Ash Flooring

Simplicity

Ash flooring is known for the uniform look of its grain. Ash doesn’t have a strong contrast between the heartwood and sapwood, so the boards look very similar in colour. This makes ash flooring good for any style of decor where the focus is not on the flooring (in comparison to more eye-catching hardwoods like walnut flooring).

Ash comes in shades from creamy white to a light golden brown. It is also possible to have ash that has a grayish hue, which is very attractive when used with modern decor. In comparison to maple flooring, ash has a warmer hue. Plus, if the red and pink undertones of maple or red oak hardwood aren’t to your taste, then ash is a great option.

Great for Open Spaces

Ash has a high elasticity which makes it good for absorbing sounds. If your home has an open floor plan, or if you have noticed echoing in some of your rooms, then ash is a great option.

Easy to Maintain

Ash is quite easy to clean and maintain. Simply remove all dust or debris on your floors by sweeping or mopping. It is also worth noting that ash is a very hard wood (1320 on the Janka scale), which is harder than oak, the industry standard for durability. This makes ash easy to care for, as it can resist dents and scratches.

Ash flooring is also relatively water-resistant. While not as water-resistant as oak flooring, ash is still a good option due to its tight grain. Just never let water pool on any type of hardwood floor for too long.
