White oak is one of the top-selling hardwoods for flooring in Canada. With its beautiful colours, subtle grain, and excellent durability, there is no doubt why it’s such a popular choice.
While white oak is a classic choice, it can work with almost any decor scheme from rustic to contemporary, depending on the grade and the stain you choose. The lighter grain and more uniform look of higher grades harmonize well with modern styles.
White oak is harder than red oak and is more yellow in tone.
With a Janka hardness score of 1360, this hardwood is an excellent choice for high traffic areas in your home. While maple is a bit harder, it can be more difficult to install and to resand, and doesn’t accept staining as well.
Due to its closed grain, white oak hardwood is more resistant to water damage and decay. This makes it a better choice if you want hardwood flooring in your kitchen.
White oak is abundant throughout Canada, which helps keep costs low.
Almost all of our hardwood flooring is sourced and processed in Canada, which lowers the carbon footprint for transportation.
