Why Choose Birch Engineered Hardwood Flooring?

Something which makes birch flooring unique is the variety of patterns in each plank. Birch hardwood is known for its beautiful wood grain, which can be enhanced with varnishes. Here are some other key advantages.

Lower cost

Engineered hardwood can be more affordable than solid hardwood flooring. Plus, birch trees grow quickly and multiply even faster, which helps to lower costs for this wood.

Wider planks

Birch engineered hardwood is offered in wider planks than solid hardwood. If you like this more modern style, then engineered hardwood is a great choice for you.

Warp resistant

Thanks to its multilayered construction, engineered hardwood flooring is less susceptible to damage from moisture and humidity.

With a 1,260 rating on the Janka scale, birch is an extremely durable hardwood. If you are interested in flooring that can handle heavy foot traffic, then birch is for you.

Flexible installation

Birch engineered flooring can sometimes be installed right over other floors, including concrete, tile or vinyl, and radiant heat.

With engineered hardwood, fewer trees are used throughout the manufacturing process.

Birch trees grow prolifically in Canada, which helps to lower the carbon footprint for this hardwood. Plus, this wood does not have to be transported as far (although almost all of our flooring comes from Canada).

How Is Engineered Hardwood Made?

Engineered hardwood is a multilayered product, while solid hardwood is one piece.

The top layer is a thick layer of hardwood veneer. Supporting the veneer are layers of plywood that have been pressed together under high heat and pressure.

The result is a durable flooring solution that can handle temperature and humidity fluctuations—an important consideration in Ottawa!
